Hi guys, after so many different meds etc, my consultant has said he thinks I should try everything before the last resort (bladder surgery to make it bigger). He thinks that getting Botox might be helpful, but Im absolutely terrified of having negative side effects and how these might impact my life.

I need solid advice, I feel like I can't commit to anything, previous procedures have had such a negative affect on my life and mental health that I want to just leave my bladder well alone, but this means living with the horrible frequency and anxiety forever. Help!

Hi Lisa,
I am so sorry you are having such a difficult time. I'm afraid I cannot help you on the subject if Botox but I think you are very wise to take some time to undrtand the pros and cons. I wonder if you might be able to get a second opinion. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can take a new perspective. I hope you find the answers and solution that you need as soon as possible.

I have no experience of Botox but when I went to a pain clinic and told them I did not think I could accept Botox because I would be unable to catheterize myself, I was that was all that was on offer. This was my last resort of ever getting a cure for pain in the bladder/urethra. The reason for my post is wish you the very best and I take it that you have discussed all the side effects and if unlike me, you feel able to catheterize yourself if necessary.  I have only has one procedure when I was diagnosed with OAB  but I wish I had not done it.  Regards Jean

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain

Have you been tested for histamine intolerance or Mast Cell Activation Syndrome yet?

I had 6 months of terrible pain too but am now 90% better after 6 weeks of treatment.

the doc I went to **believed that in my pelvic floor issues /bladder pain /vagina pain (everything pain) were a result of over production of histamine / inflammation so were the result not the source of the isssue.

which doctor are you with?

Good to investigate this before surgery

Mod Edit** please PM or e mail  each other for Names Thank you.
