Hi Susannah,
I am experiencing a bad flare at the moment.Usually I can manage with the pain and discomfort by keeping my urine alkaline.

But I have noticed that when I get a cold sore  ( Herpes Simplex ) on my lips I experience the same type of intermittent severe burning pain in my bladder plus lower back pain.I just scream with the pain.
This continues all the while the cold sore is active.
What I am interested is has anyone else  experienced this problem and if so how do they cope with it.
When I mentioned this to the urologist he did not see it had any connection but I certainly do.

Hello zena

I haven't come across anyone with these type of symptoms before - would you like me to put your question to Mr Irwin for inclusion in the COB summer magazine?

Yes please Susannah.

That is a good idea.
It has happened so many times that I know I am not imagining it.
I start with flu like symptoms lower back pain with intermittent  sharp stabbing burning pain of my bladder.
A cold sore then breaks out on my lip. after experiencing a slight tingling there.
It usually takes approx. 3 weeks to settle down.

Thank you ,

Zena.
