Hi and thanks for accepting me to the forum.
I am waiting to be called into hospital for a cystodistension. I must admit I have mixed feelings as I was talking to a friend of mine the other day and he said the relief only lasted 6 weeks and now his problem is worse than it was before.
I have an enlarged prostate, have been scanned for cancer, thankfully all clear, but I am getting up 6 or 8 times at night, I am absolutely shattered during the day.
I had a urodynamics test in April which says that I have no bladder outflow obstruction but small capacity hence the next step.
Has anyone else had experience of this procedure and has it worked for them fairly long term ?  I don't really want to go through this latest procedure if it is only going to be temporary but I am getting at the end of my tether and don't really know what other options there are.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Carl51

I have IC and an enlarged prostate (40cc) too. I had a cystodistention with biopsies in August 2015 to diagnose the IC after nearly 3 years of inconclusive tests and investigations, including the prostate ones. For me the biopsy sites were initially painful after the cystodistention but when they had healed I noticed for 4-6 weeks quite a good reduction in my bladder pain. The pain has since increased again and I am about to start Cystistat bladder instillations, first one tomorrow, am hoping this will start to relieve the IC symptoms. Luckily I don't suffer from a small bladder capacity and take Tolterodine which sorts out the frequency / urgency to near normal levels. I also have some BPH symptoms though they are currently not too bad yet.
