Hi All

After 3 months of continuous uti symtoms ( urethera burning mostly and discomfort in bladder ) i have been diagnosed with embedded infection by prof JML.
I have started cefalaxin 500mg 4 times a day and hiprex twice daily initially prescribed for 6 months . I m 3rd week into antibiotics but there is very little to no difference in symptoms.
I feel my urine flow is better than before but not completely i still feel my bladder doesnt empty completely. My urethra is constantly burning even after antibiotics. Sometimes i get a relief of few hours but most of the time it is always there which is hugely affecting my quality of life .
Does anyone have any experience , how long does an embedded infection takes to start getting better ?
Do i need to be more patient with the treatment to see the results ?

Hi SarahR26

It took me 13 months of antibiotics before I began to notice a significant improvement.

Please hang on in there..... it is a bumpy road unfortunately.

All the best

Hi

I really appreciate your reply . Glad to know things worked out for you in the end . Are you still in the treatment? . I will stick with my regime and hope for the best . I sometime do feel some suppression in my symptoms but it doesnt last long . Must be a part of oscillating path to recovery.
My whole life is upside down at the moment . I cant even wear my regular jeans it flares up my already inflamed urethra . Have to wear very loose trousers to manage the burning and inflammation.
I am on sick leave without knowing for how long i would need it . My manager has told me they will find a cover now because its getting hard for them.
But one thing I am grateful about is that i have found the right consultant (Prof ) and treatment just after 3 months of my first symptoms. Sadly many people has suffered for months and years before getting the right diagnosis and treatment [frown] .
Atleast i know i am Being treated (even the with negative culture) and going in the right direction.

I had to be on antibiotics Macrobid for six months about a year ago then Hiprex twice a day with vitamin see 1000 units twice today. So far I have had no further infections. Hang in there and keep taking the pills. It is hard to get rid of the bugs but hopefully you will

Plenty of us on this forum are patients of these specialists.
