No as yet not. These are the new inbladder treatments currently being developed by two UK specialists who treat patients with chronic UTI but they are still in the funding and development stage with no firm date as to when they will go to human trial and then be made available to patients.

What is agreed that in bladder treatments are the way forward rather than the continuing reliance on antibiotics which cannot penetrate an embedded infection or biofilm. At present, treatment relies on the regular shedding of the bladder lining to release the bacteria into the urine so that antibiotics can kill the DNA of the bacteria to prevent them becoming further biofilm communities.

It hoped that these new treatments will come online in the next few years and I’m sure BHUK will advise members when it is available.
