Hey. Do anyone know what I can do to calm down a flare? 1 year and 5 months since I had my first symptoms of a biofilm infection. Tried treatment but thrush made it worse. Cysto was clear in January.
February I had my first diagnosed UTI. Cleared up with nitro and was symptom free for 3 weeks. ( amazing ) back to the mild symptoms as per and now today I've woken up early hours with huge urge to urinate [frown] I'm wondering if it's another infection or a flare.
This disease is so stressful. I forget how awful it is until I am in pain
Arghh.

Morning Sophs50522

So sorry to read your concerns, have a read through HERE     ..(Managing Flares)

and also read through other tabs, loads of help, that may assist.

I personally always keep D Mannose and Bi carb handy, if a sudden flare feels imminent, to try and knock it before it sets in fullblown.

Am sure others will reply , to try and assist. Doh!!!

Kind regards
Kate

Thank you Kate. I took some ibuprofen and it has seemed to calmed down a lot now but still went to my doctors appointment this morning. My dipstick test showed leukocytes but nothing else so she have sent my urine off to the lab and sent me on my way.
Any reason what this could be?
Is this common to have in urine without infection as all my urine tests I had last year with the symptoms showed nothing at all.

Thanks sophie

I am assuming ( but am no expert) as no definite infection showed up better to get sent off for further testing, so that correct AB can be prescribed.

Just found this on google
https://labtestsonline.org/tests/urinalysis
Leukocyte esterase is an enzyme present in most white blood cells (WBCs). A few white blood cells are normally present in urine and usually give a negative chemical test result. ... The most common cause for WBCs in urine (leukocyturia) is a bacterial urinarytract infection (UTI), such as a bladder or kidney infection.25 May 2016.

You could also ring BHUK for more advice.

Sophs50522. I would also have some vanilla ice cream!! Not together with the chamomile of course! I found the ice cream soothing. xx

Talking Herb Teas

'Marshmallow Root' and also' Cornsilk,' both soothing ,for the bladder and helps with flare.
I purchase from Herbalist, not  already made up by high street shops.

Thanks both. I'm losing the will to live here. I've now woken up to blood in my urine. Definitely a UTI. I'm getting so stressed as I hadn't had a diagnosed UTI for nearly 8 years and now ever since my cystoscopy I've had two in the space of 2 months. What is going on [frown]

Hi Soph unfortunately I experienced similar episodes after cyscosposy and concluded that is what caused the infection. It took 5 courses of antibiotics over 3 months to eventually get rid of it. Don't despair you will beat it in the end.

Thank you Morse. That's so reassuring to know.
My dipstick test showed no nitrites but high level of leukocytes. The bleeding stopped within a few hours after taking my first dose of nitrofurantoin.
I did read that only Ecoli bacteria will show nitrates. So I clearly have some embedded infection if some kid going on there as I wouldn't have improved after the antibiotics.
I only had a 3 day course on my last uti I've got 7 days this time. Hopefully I don't get another [frown]

Thanks again for the response. x
