Hi Chrissy,I went to the doctors this morning as I still feel as if I have the urine infection.I've been put on a week's course of Amoxycillin and another sample has been sent off for testing.I got a form and sample pot for Mum's urine test to be repeated too so I'll take it down tomorrow. She finished her antibiotics today. The GP says she wants Mum to come down and see her if this next sample comes back infected.Mum hasn't had her scan yet.

I'm hoping that my test will be negative as I want to get my cystoscopy out of the way and I'm due in on Tuesday.

I've still got some pain in my left kidney and am feeling very lethargic.

I hope you are ok,has your kidney pain has gone off at all?

Hiya Jane

Sorry to hear that you are unwell and that your kidney is hurting.  My kidney is still hurting too and I am in the middle of a lovely IC flare at the moment.   Anyway, I came up with a great idea yesterday  I went on to the internet and looked up opoid analgesics for IC and in the ICA (Interstitial Cystitis Association) I noticed that for severe IC you can be prescribed (in America of course) fentanyl patches (which I tried) and morphine (slow release) so even though my GPs are having a breakdown because I am on pethidine, I would have thought with kidney probs and sciatica on top, I am not doing too badly!!  So I printed it all off to show my GP!  It does say that you can becomes dependent and tolerant of these drugs however.....but I have never needed more than I have been prescribed and they always do kick in for me.  Leni did tell me that I must be prepared and have all the information when I go to see my GP so that is what I am doing.  Pethidine is the only thing that keeps me completely comfortable and they really do need to understand this (at least for the time being)  Going to Pain Clinic in June so hopefully, they shall be able to help.

I hope your Mum is feeling alot better and that you feel better after you start taking the antibiotics.  You do find with infections that your kidney can start hurting too.  Lets hope this year gets better for you as you are such a lovely person and do not deserve such bad luck all the time!

Take care

Hi Chrissy

I really agreed with what you just wrote. As you've been referred to the pain clinic they will be the ones to help you with the medication and until then the GP's really shouldn't be messing you around. They obviuously realise you have have the pain and probs with the meds or they wouldn't have referred you in the first place. To keep messing you around with your pethidine until then is just plain cruel really - they can't not give it to you until something else has been organised.

Going armed with information is always a good idea.

Take care

Love

Hi Chrissy,I'm really sorry to hear that you are having a flare and kidney pain on top.

Good luck with your GP and the information you have got from the internet.I hope that the pain clinic will help you out,its awful for you to be in so much pain.

Mum is up today but she's still quite tired and a bit fed up that she's not up to doing much.

My back is really painful and the amoxycillin give me stomach ache but I'm hoping that they will help get rid of my infection if it hasn't gone already.

I hope your flare eases soon and your pain goes quickly.

Mum says hello and thanks for your kind messages.

Thanks Jade,I'm still not feeling well.I've got a couple more days to improve though so unless I hear that I've still got an infection I'm intending to have the cystoscopy.

How are you getting on with the long term antibiotics?

Are you feeling any better lately?
