Hello,

I just thought I'd post about my condition to see if anyone has a similar problem. I don't want to bore you with all the details but suffice it to say since September last year I've had a recurring UTI.

One of the alarming things I learned was that my bladder holds 2 litres of urine. Apparently approximately 500ml would be more normal.

I've had 7 infections and god knows how many lots of different anti-biotics. Any yes, lo and behold, I've got an emergency appointment at my Doctor's surgery this morning for yet another infection.

I'm in between a rock and a hard place. My bladder doesn't empty properly (that's an awful lot of urine in there) so I have the choice of self-catheterisation or not. 6 times I've had a catheter in my urinary tract and 6 times I've had an infection afterwards. I now have an infection after 4 weeks of not self-catheterising. I don't know which is the best course of action? But that will be my choice.

Does anyone know if the bladder muscles can be strengthened so that I may expel more urine?
