Hi as many of you will have read I have been having some dramatic success with marshmallow root tea, pro-biotics and combination of I.C/candida diet.

I have relaxed the diet somewhat over the last few days (because I was just fed up in general and wanted to see what difference it made) and many of my symptoms have come RIGHT back! (not surprising as I had not given it anywhere near long enough). Am also having terrible migraines almost constantly.

I am currently researching natural remedies and natural anti-fungals etc.

My question is can anyone recommend a herbalist/naturalist/nutritionist who knows about I.C in the UK?
Also Catherine Simone mentions colloidal silver as a natural anti-biotic/anti-fungal. Has anyone had any success with this?

I am also very interested in the possibility of being tested for allergies at this stage.

Thanks
Leanne

Hi Leanne,

Really glad to hear you're having dramatic success! I'm also drinking marshmallow root tea, and would be interested to know how many cups a day you're having to get a noticeable effect? Also, do you prepare it with cold or boiling water, and how long do you let it brew for?
Thanks!!

Hi

I am currently having to follow strict diet, if I relax the diet I relapse, though I have now included oats after more research and maybe the odd potato! I am concentrating on eating properly, strong pro-biotic and experimenting with natural anti-fungals/anti biotics - currently grapefruit seed extract.

I tried various ways with marshmallow root tea, I love the bags I got from the US but they are too expensive. I bought the root loose on line less than £5 for 100g. I tried it in a coffee maker but found it too strong. I have found the best way is buy a tea ball (again cheap online) and just put a pinch of the herb in for one cup, boil the kettle as usual and let the tea ball sit in the cup for a couple of minutes.
I don't like it cold unfortunately.

I drink maybe 3-4 cups a day sometimes more plus other herbal teas depending on if I'm at work other teas in bags are more convenient.

I am also doing ok with pure camomile tea, I wasn't doing well with the blends mixed with vanilla and honey flavourings (well known brand). I am also doing ok with one a cup a day of enchinacea tea which I got from a well known health food chain very cheap in bags as this is another natural anti-biotic.

It's nice having a mixture of herbal teas to enjoy, I know cornsilk is also good, I haven't tried that yet.

Thank you for the info!

Btw, for just over a week now I've been taking quercetin, a natural anti-inflammatory, and I think it's helping - it could just be coincidence but I've had less pain in the last week. Just thought I'd mention that in case it's of interest!

Hi again Leanne,

I was wondering whether you found the grapefruit seed extract helpful, and if so, what brand you bought, please? I'm interested in trying natural antibiotics/antimicrobials.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what type and strength of probiotics did you take?

Thank you!!

Hi Jessica

Trying natural remedies is definitely a good thing. What I can recommend is garlic, it has got natural properties to kill the bacteria in the organism.
Tomorrow I will be prescribed herbs and I am also keen to find out if they are gonna work.

Thank you for the garlic advice. Good luck with the herbs! I'm also considering herbal medicine, so would be interested to hear if there are any herbs you find helpful.

I have got my herbs today, this is a huge mix of herbs for the urinary tract, to strengthen the vascular system and boost the immune response. The pack is given away by  priests in return for  a small donation. I will see whether it will have any effect and will let you know.

What natural remedies are you planning to take, perhaps you could also think about chinese herbs, they are also very good and might be effective?

That's amazing that priests give away the pack of herbs in return for a small donation! Whereabouts are they, and do they give the herbs to anyone? I'll be very interested to know if the herbs work!

I am hoping to get herbal medicine from a local herbalist - she said she might be able to see me at the end of January. She said she has treated IC in the past. If I do get herbs from her, if you like I'll let you know which ones they are.

I'm also interested in Chinese herbs, as it happens. I need to look into how to get them...

Hi Jessica,

I am in fact based in another country  but I will definitely let you know how I progress on the herbal path.
We can exchange the information concerning herbs as I am also very much  interested in the Chinese medicine. If the herbs I have got now do not work, I will definitely try Chinese herbs but I have not looked into that either yet.
Please let me know whatever you find out. I can scan to you if you want the list of herbs I have received from the priests, these are Latin names so pretty much international.

Hi there,

Sorry for the delay in replying. Thank you very much for offering to scan to me the list of herbs you're taking - that would be brilliant. I'll message you with my email address. Do you think the herbs are making any difference yet?

If you ever come over to England, I'm told the best place to get Chinese herbs is at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading. Or, if you're in the US, there is a Chinese herbalist with an excellent reputation called Giovanni Maciocia.

I am hoping to see a herbalist (not a Chinese one at this stage) in the next week or two - if I do, I'll let you know what herbs she gives me!

Best wishes x

HI Jessica,

Please email me and I will send you the list, it is already scanned.
I do not know if the herbs are working, I know for sure that the urine stream is bigger, so there has been some change for sure. The frequency remains the same though.
I take the herbs with the autivaccination so these two forces may mingle and I do not know what makes which changes. If I do not find improvement with these herbs, I might try chinese ones.

If that does not work, I might seek the help of the London specialist as all other avenues will have been explored by that time.
Please let me know which herbs you have got and if they are working. Good luck!
