Well I am surprised. I am presently in Egypt on holiday at the moment, and I do manage IC very well at home on a daily basis, following my routine which works for me, but I cannot believe what has happened to me while I have been away on holiday for these past 2 weeks.

I brought with me my Prelief, and did take them initially, but then I started to forget them, because no matter what I ate I have had no bladder pain. My mind was elsewhere enjoying my holiday and I forgot totally that I have IC. I forgot my normal routine it has been all over the place, and I have drank alcohol, drank soda water, eaten Italian food, Asian food, ice cream, salads, in fact everything I have fancied, and no bladder pain, no frequency or any symptoms whatsoever at all.

What has happened is I have put on weight !!!! I must be 3 or 4 kgs heavier than I was 2 weeks ago. All I can think of, is that the food I am eating is all freshly prepared from natural ingredients whereas some of the foods I eat in the UK is processed, has preservatives in it, or is grown with chemical substances.

Itโ€™s all very strange, because I am relaxed, maybe my body has reacted to this and relaxed too. I will see when I return to the UK this weekend if any symptoms come back, but in the meanwhile I am enjoying the freedom of being able to eat and drink what I want.

Just thought I would share this with you, I wouldnโ€™t say I am cured, but it does seem to be in remission at least for the time being while I am here. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ‘

Just an update on this, I am home from holiday now, back to the old routine, rushing around getting on with normal life, and finding I cannot eat some of things I ate or drank on holiday, which was just about everything without taking the Prelief. So I am thinking that while I was away the food that I ate must have been all cooked from fresh and made with fresh ingredients with no preservatives, but the food that I am eating in the UK isnโ€™t. We have gone back to eating some packaged foods, convenience foods, and while my bladder isnโ€™t screaming, half an hour after I have eaten some foods I can feel twinges. The twinges go once I empty my bladder and doesnโ€™t stay around that long, but there must be something in the foods here that triggers this off. Good thing is the weight is coming off again which I put on, as I am restricting my intake of food and drink now back home.

Itโ€™s very interesting, that I could eat absolutely anything on holiday and not have a single twinge, but something back home is triggering them off again. Bladders strange ???

Hi Chrysalis

So very pleased, you were able to enjoy your hols, and your Bladder behaved.

"Bladders strange?" and so painful and confusing doh! Funny you mention the difference in food abroad, Daughter just returned and even her Hubby said he noticed such a difference in freshness, and whether, true or not someone, mentioned that many apples sold here are actually 2 to 3 years old as when picked they are stored in special warehouses before distribution to our supermarkets.

As we are all aware that food does affect our Bladders, it does make you wonder.

Pleased to hear the weight coming off again,

Thanks for posting, take care
Kate

Kate,

Itโ€™s really odd, just been away this weekend to Hungary, and again ate most things without any issues, came home and again after eating normally got some twinges. So I am convinced something in British food triggers me off. Itโ€™s not unbearable, because I know I have beaten much of this disease, but I am beginning to think the way food is grown, produced etc there is some sort of chemical that is used which is not bladder friendly.

I am ok, Prelief works for me, but strange that on 2 occasions that I am out of this country I can eat anything without any issues to the degree that I forgot I had I! And when I return eating the food here without a Prelief gives me a reminder that Itโ€™s still there.

Packaged foods and convenience foods are definitely
not good for IC !
Do you eat fresh when out of the country ? It could even be the water you drink .

I spent five days in Canada last month, ate and drank whatever I wanted and had zero bladder pain. I am mostly pain free these days anyway but as soon as I came back, the twinges returned. Cannot work out what was different in Canada!

Lots of people seem to be symptom free on holiday, itโ€™s really strange...
