I drank the barium which wasn’t too bad. Then waited an hour before having the actual Proctogram which only takes about 15 mins. I’ve been suffering with bowel and bladder problems for six years (I have an appointment with Prof in London for my bladder issues in Aug). I would say don’t worry about having the procedure as it’s not as bad as it sounds.

Yes it does affect your mental health. I get very depressed with my bladder and bowel issues. I wish you well with all your appointments.

No your Proctogram was exactly the same as mine as I too had to have barium put into the rectum as well drinking it. I had stomach pains for a few days after as it does constipate you a bit. I drink milk which seems to help as well as water.
