Hi everyone, I am from N. Ireland and just wondering if anyone could private message me with the name of a consultant I could contact re my ongoing issues with cystitis.  Its difficult just looking at hospital staff lists to know who if anyone specialises in this area of medicine.  I am prepared to pay myself as a private patient.  Thank you.

Hello Eve63
Welcome to our Forum, I hope you will find much to assist you in your own search in trying to understand this dreadful dis- ease.

May I suggest you e. mail or telephone on Monday the Office, as they will have much info to assist you.

If for  nominal fee, you become a Member of BHUK, not only will they send you a joining pack full of info, but you will then access to so much more support.

Do please feel free to tell us about your symptoms and medication so far, as this will help any member looking in to maybe offer some advice.

You will notice that as you state you have ongoing Cystitis , I have moved your post into this Cystitis category.

Hope this is of some help, kind regards
Kate

Thanks Kate, I downloaded the form and will post it tomorrow.   My urine on dip stick has always been " clear" despite me having all the symptoms of cystitis.  I was prescribed Vagifem for VA, which hasn't really done anything for the recurrent cystitis.  I went back to GP in December and was then prescribed low dose Trimithroprim to be taken at night.  I take DManoose and currently taking antiimflamatories and analgesia.    I have private health insurance and would be keen to be reviewed by a consultant dealing with my type of problem, to try and get to the bottom of it all, plus I have read some members have sent off samples to private labs and this is something I would consider doing too.  I have suffered on and off for years but its got progressively worse this past couple of years with about 4 attacks a year.  I can normally keep on top with the Dmanoose and the analgesia plus take the cystitis powders too.  However the increased frequency is worrying and really starting to interfere with my normal life.  Many thanks for your quick  reply.
