Once it was in the urine poured out, mainly outside the catheter (some went into the bag, but not a lot) mainly it poured all over my bed - and onto an electric duvet (which cannot be washed).  The nurse removed the catheter before my bladder was fully emptied.

I was sore afterwards and still am.  I could 'feel' my bladder, which also felt slightly sore too.

I do not understand what happened and why the urine poured out on the outside of the bag and onto my bed.

Any assistance to understand would be much appreciated.

I can't understand how that happened ? It is easier for a man I stand up in front of the toilet and the urine goes straight into the toilet I've been doing it since January and now and again a little painful if I pull the cathatars out to fast ! Always take it very slow

On Wednesday this week I woke up with strong urine smell I drank pints of water as it was a very hot day indeed my urine wouldn't clear I also had bad stomach cramps tightness I had a job to move I had to go to the doctors I got a course of antibiotics for 7 days ! After 2 tablets I was so much better I can't tell you we go to Spain on Monday and I'm so relieved to be feeling better ! I cannot believe I got a urine infection with all that I take everyday which I mentioned earlier ?? My urine was dark with bits in it my partner thinks the hot weather didn't help and that's how I caught the bug with more Germs spread ? Yes I could have took more D mannose but it was bad with my tight stomach etc I was desperate ! My doctor said my urine would be analysed yes I took a sample I haven't heard from surgury so I guess the antibiotics was the answer and like I say I day later I was fine even though I've got a weeks course ! There is a medi checks clinics in Leicester 7 miles from me the urine test is £69 my partner ex nurse says this is a waste of money as they will only say what the urine test was after being sent away from my doctors ! Any advice would be most welcome yes I will be on high alert in Spain with hand gel wipes etc Thankyou for reading

Morning Mike

So pleased you enjoyed your break in spain, sorry about your infection.
My personal comment would be yes last thing at night, in morning after and away from food and after passing urine, so that it will stay as long as possible in the bladder.

This from Mod Susan a while ago.

"D Mannose
For those suffering with Gram Negative bugs (E coli, Proteus, Klebsiella and Pseudamonas), D Mannose has proved to be helpful in controlling a flare or preventing an attack from worsening or for post coital UTIs. It works by clinging to the fingers of gram negative bugs, preventing them from attaching to the walls of the bladder and urethra. When you urinate, it helps to flush out the bugs from your system. Although it is a sugar, very little gets into the body and most is excreted through the kidneys and urine.

For more information, see the attached link.
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/04/28/d-mannose-uti-prevention.aspx

Take a heaped teaspoon in water 4 times a day. Build up to 8 time a day when your bladder flares or every 2 hours including at night during an acute flare for 48 hours. The key is to make sure you have d-mannose in the bladder during the course of the day and night so that the e-coli is continually being flushed through.
You need to take the DM away from any acidic food or drink as it will counteract its effects and you need to keep your urine alkaline. Stools may be loose for a few days when first taking it."

I find D mannose makes you want to wee a lot so I now keep it for if I get a urine infection ! Daily I take 4 seven seas cranberry capsules and a teaspoon of himalayion pink rock salt and Keifer milk ! I'm going to see the doctor my yearly appointment on Monday 7th August and will discuss this preventives of urine infections !
