I've been told I have urethral stricture.
I know it's quiet rare and difficult to treat. Has anyone had this before ?

I've included a link about urethral stricture for your information.  If you contact the BHUK office they may have further info and be able to put you in touch with others who have had this diagnosis.  Depending on where you live in the UK, there may be a BHUK local support group to help and again the office can help.

Hi, have a urethral stricture too. I was told it is rare in woman. I am in my early 50's but have it since my late 30's.
Also have a history of chronic cystitis and recurrent infections since my teens which doctors think may have caused my stricture.

I have had dilation done three times over the years. The last one was only four weeks ago and has closed over already.
I now have to do intermittent self catheterisation daily to keep the stricture open.
It is a nuisance but is helping.

I have a urethral stricture had mine since 1997 due to urine retention and repeated urine infections. Had my stricture removed by laser in February this year last time I had it done was in 2005. So lasted quite a while. Was also dianogsed with squamous metaplasia which is being monitored. Had follow up recently because I keep on passing stones due to having a good urine flow and is no longer blocked by the stricture the only problem I have is I am still getting residue urine which I have to self cathetise three times a day. Due to muscle's not working as they should. Probably will have to self cathetise for the rest of my life.
