I have been diagnosed with OAB approx 4yrs ago.  I started vaping 2yrs ago and enjoy it. I have a UTI for the past 3wks and now on my 3rd course of antibiotics.  I called the Drs for urine sample results and the receptionist said the Dr has requested I make an appointment to see her. I go back on Wednesday to find out what is wrong as I am unsure if it is a UTI even though the symptoms are very similar.  Could vaping be a result of my problem?  Hoping there is someone in the forum that vapes and can confirm if they have had any problems like this.  Thankyou in advance.

Hello angela_paul2

I am sorry no-one has been along yet to respond to your post.

I am by no means an expert on vaping but I suspect it depends what you are inhaling. If what you are inhaling contains nicotine this is not generally recommended for sufferers of chronic bladder illness because it stimulates the bladder. I think you need to find out on Wednesday whether you have a confirmed UTI or not and if not, it may be worth giving up the vaping for a while to see if your symptoms improve. If they do not, you will need a referral to a urologist to discuss a way forward.

Hi Susannah,

Thankyou for your reply. I find it strange that I started vaping 2yrs ago and this problem happed 3wks ago. I am reducing the nicotine that I vape from 6mg to 3mg then down to 0. I will mention it to the Dr on Wednesday. I will let u know how I get on. X

Hello Angela

Your link from vaping to bladder issues is an interesting one. I was a smoker for 50 years (!) and changed to vaping about 3 years ago, not so much as a means by which to give up smoking, but rather as an alternative.

My smoking habit, over so many years, may have contributed to my bladder situation now, although doctors worldwide condemn the habit willy nilly, if you know what I mean, and can blame every illness or disease on smoking, especially when they have no alternative answers as to why this or that bladder condition has come about (as in my case).  Not that any doctor I've seen has even asked me if I am or was a smoker.

While I would congratulate you on reducing your nicotine intake, which can only be good for you, I don't personally think that any UTI I have had (not many by other people's standards) can be placed at the door of vaping.  So I really don't think you need to make this connection, but that is not medical advice, naturally, simply my own opinion!

Hi Anne,

Thankyou for your reply. Glad to hear your opinion. I will let u know how I get on at the Drs on Wednesday. Im sure vaping is not related but who knows. I stopped smoking over 4yrs ago and started vaping 2yrs ago. I know, why do that but I tried vaping and enjoy it. Do u still vape Anne and do u still get bladder issues? X
