There does appear to be some form of supply issue and I know others who have struggled to obtain it. Over the last couple of weeks. However it appears to be back in stock again in Boots so you could try there.

I've had a look online and it seems its the same story - prescription only or not available in the UK

Could someone please point me in the right direction to buy some please?

A prescription from the consultant isn't really an option as she is 200 miles away so today was a one off appointment...

Thanks!

You should email your consultant or phone her secretary to explain the situation and ask for a prescription to be sent to you.  As you have had a consultation there should be no problem.

In America it is called urea in England Hiprex I had to track down the company that I think imports it from New Zealand and now my Pharmacy stocks it. The pharmacy is in Richmond Road Twickenham. My doctors didn’t know about it you can buy it over the counter. I found about it on this forum and for the last three months I am clear and feel so much better. Why is Hiprex such a secret?

I currently have enough Hiprex to last me a month, I have found a reputable chemist in Australia that can ship to the UK, but if I were to order 4 bottles, each containing 100 pills, would this get stopped by customs as something suspect  Even though this is a perfectly legal over the counter drug I am worried about it getting stopped.

If anyone has ordered from Australia, did you have any issues buying this in quantity.

Does anyone know how long to take Hiprex I am frightened to come of it because I have been clear for months now but my doctor has no experience of Hiprex so I have no one to turn to?

Unfortunately there is a supply issue in the UK at the moment with supplies hopefully coming back on line mid may - there is one supplier for the whole of the UK.  You may need to ring a number of independent pharmacies to source it otherwise patients are purchasing via suppliers in Australia where it is available over the counter without prescription.  Currently taking around 7-10 days to be sent to the UK.

Prof ML spoke with the suppliers a fortnight ago who are now aware of how vital it is for treatment for his patients and have assured him that they will step up production going forward to ensure UK supplies are more easily available to all who need it.  This has been an ongoing issue for around 4 years now.

Some are successfully sourcing it via Lloyds pharmacies in the UK but again given the demand their stocks may now be running short.

I have just checked and to myfury they say yet again they are out of stock. I had a struggle with the assistant that insisted she needed a prescription but finally I persuaded her to look it up and she backed down. I did make a note of the English importer. But I can’t find it. This is a ridiculous situation because Hiprex works and I wonder if pharmacies don’t want to order stock because it is expensive? I am seriously frustrated for those of us in England when it is easily available everywhere else?
