Hello,
Does anyone know the difference between Ester C and buffered vitamin C?  I know that ordinary vitamin C supplements are very tough on the digestive system and of course can be very problematic for the bladder.  I also understand that Ester C is reduced acid and that buffered vitamin C seems to have calcium added to it (presumably to buffer it?).   What I need to know if more about how these two different supplements work.... but also  .... which one is the best for the IC painful bladder whilst at the same time being an immune system support.

Marshmallow Root tea   -  does anyone use this and find it soothing for the IC bladder?  and  where can you get it in the UK as I have tried everwhere from health food shops, to pharmacies all over the place.  They just never seem to have heard of marshmallow root tea and yet it is on all IC lists as an excellent drink.

Any advice on either topic would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

For marshmallow root try http://www.e-teas.co.uk.  I actually havent tried this as a tea.  I did try infusing some of the actual root but thought it irritated me a bit.  It seems to sooth some people but irritate others.

I bought my marshmallow root tea from http://www.e-teas.co.uk and it didn't irritate my bladder, though I'm not sure it helped. Neales Yard used to sell it, not sure if they still do, but their delivery charge was higher than e- teas.

Carole, Geraldine,
Thank you for your replies. I'll try  and get some through the e-teas. So far no health food stores including Holland and Barretts, Health Matters, Nutri-Centre, London or Kent etc.  have ever heard of Marshmallow Root tea and they only seem to sell the tablets. Maybe the tablets are good for IC though?   Well anything is worth a try as ordinary teas are out.
Best wishes and thanks again.

Forgot to mention in my last reply that you can get marshmallow root in capsule form from Holland and Barrett. You can open the capsule and dissolve it in hot water to make a tea. I did try that but didn't like the taste as much as the root tea, though even that took some getting used to.

Good luck with your search!

You can get marshmallow root from Neals yard which you can infuse to make a tea.  I tried it but thought it tasted disgusting.  I was willing to give it a go but felt it made my IC worse.
